Solar eclipse August 21st 2017

We got up early and headed over to mom and dads on the 21st so that we could participate in a "No Sun Fun Run" put on by the Harrisons and Aaron at my parent's house, and also to ensure that we would see "totality" because Haines,Oregon was supposed to be one of the best places to see it.  Ironically, since we just moved from there, Rexburg was supposed to be the very best place in the nation to witness it, because totality lasted the longest there.

So we ran the race, and it was pretty cool because the Harrisons even had t-shirts made for everyone:
We ran up around the Markle place, over above the Mountain place and then down past Katie's house.
This was the end of the race with Gracie and Maddie racing in.  But they were cheaters because they went and sat in Katie's house for awhile and then finished up when they saw that other people were. Crazy girls...
Those of us that ran the race!:

Kami and Caden went to Rexburg for the eclipse and to see friends.  I DO have a picture from their experience, though!:
They were with the Andersons:)

Soon after the race, the air started looking kind-of funny, and we could tell that the eclipse was beginning when we looked at the sun through our special glasses, so we went down to mom and dads front yard.
We started noticing crescent shadows in the shade:

Shadows didn't look very sharp:

Then things started getting chilly and it kept getting colder and colder until totality and after when the sun came out again.  This experience and totality were absolutely incredible!! I have never seen anything so amazing and did NOT expect this to be such a neat, spiritual experience!  I am so grateful that we drove to where we could witness it.

Afterwards, I realized that in the excitement of it all I had forgotten to notice where Abram and Nolan were.  I was afraid they had missed it because I couldn't find them anywhere!  Not to worry, they had gone over to Adam's house with Caleb and Westley because they all wanted to see if the chickens would roost when the eclipse took place.  They didn't, by the way:D
