I cried most of the way home

These pictures were taken the night that Kami got set apart to be a missionary.  I can tell, because we still didn't have ceiling lights, and put lamps all around the room because the Stake President was coming to our house and we needed to be able to see!  Kami was feeling really nervous to leave before she was set apart, but said that the blessing made her feel peaceful about leaving.  And she never really got nervous again, clear through dropping her off!

So sad to think about how these two won't see each other for over two years and they are such good, close siblings.  They can cheer each other up when no one else can, and I can usually hear them laughing uproariously whenever they are together.
The next morning we left for Utah.  We stayed at Aunt Linda's that night - she wasn't there but was a perfect hostess, leaving us lots of food to eat and even chocolates on our pillows!  Then the next morning we said our goodbyes.  I got pretty choked up in the parking garage where they have you leave your missionary, but Kami was excited and ready to get to work!  And I knew that the hard part of a mission, for her, was the anticipation.  That once there she would be amazing.  Even knowing that, though, it was really hard to send my oldest away, knowing that she was REALLY leaving home this time and that things would never be quite the same.  She has started the inevitable pattern of my kids leaving home:(
