Think of Gaston

Abram makes himself breakfast almost every morning. Even if someone’s making pancakes or waffles. He fries himself his own eggs and likes them a certain way with the yolks poked.

A couple of mornings ago, I happened to hear him talking to himself as he cracked his eggs. “One, two, three eggs so that I’ll be roughly the size of a canoe.”😂😂😂

I started laughing and asked “why not a barge?” He said he was positive he’d never get that big.

Kami has been working in an art studio on campus and her job was just put on hold until the end of April, so she moved back home. I LOVE having all of my kids under one roof! We shuffled everything around and everyone has to share a room with someone. We will be cozy for awhile😄 Kami is sharing a queen sized bed with Anni. The first night, Anni woke up and came and got me and she was wet. This doesn’t happen very often...welcome home Kami! We changed Anni and the sheets and I told Kami I was sorry that happened to her. She said, “it’s okay mom. I was just thinking what a great journal entry this would make. “Last night my roommate wet the bed...”😂

Lots of chicks

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1nPwTdgJz2WUIwxeS066PszQX86W0VT1V
We ordered chicks through the mail because there was a much higher guarantee that the chicks would be poulettes(sp?). They were in the mail for FOUR DAYS!! The mail has been a lot slower with all of the Corona Virus problems going on and we were worried that they would all arrive dead.
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1DWo0aJ11GaKqfcQGQZ3Z_Q2rbYgMrAY0
But miracle of miracles they were all hale and hearty. Well, two did end up dying the first day, but we were sent two extras just in case, so we ended up with the number that we wanted. The kids all helped out the chicks beak in water to get them drinking. Then we weren’t to touch them for a couple of days because their travels were too traumatizing.

Today the kids were able to touch them. Nolan has really enjoyed having the chicks and is very attentive to all of their needs:

Home church- I LOVE it!!

I have thoroughly enjoyed having church at home! I love hearing the kid’s talks, lessons and testimonies. I love the spirit that is so incredibly strong. I love that we have three worthy priesthood holders and I SO appreciate that we have three kids that can play hymns that add so much to our meetings. Today Anni fell asleep at the end of our sacrament meeting, so instead of having an energetic “singing time” we all chose a favorite hymn and sang them. It wasn’t as boisterous as our other singing times tend to become😂:

Social distancing on a hike with my boys

We were supposed to be keeping our distance from people but needed to get out so we went to climb R Mountain. Turns out most of the town was there so it was interesting trying to stay six feet from everyone. We had a great time, though, and once we reached the top a hailstorm came up and scared everyone off the mountain so we had the whole butte to ourselves😄

Education

The world has been put on hold for Covid-19- or Coronavirus as we often refer to it. The kids are out of  school with a minimal amount of schoolwork to do. When this all started, Shawn sat them all down and told them that he wanted everyone to think of some goals to work towards and thereby accomplish something during this crazy time.

We decided to get chicks , so Shawn and Nolan built a chicken coop. Shawn originally brought all three little boys over to his parents shop to help on it one Saturday, but brought back Abram and Pace for lunch because it was too hard to think of things for all three of them to do. Nolan is at an age where he’s a great help and Shawn said he drilled all the screws and build a lot of the project. We were excited to get it done and home before the chicks arrived!:

Kami and Caden have been transposing a song for piano and violin that they love the sound of but can’t find sheet music for. I don’t have a picture of that, but they and Maddie often sing and play instruments together.

Maddie has taught herself to knit! This was her first trial of it and she is now onto a blanket.

I have been exercising at least four days a week- even though I don’t enjoy working out at home. Pace loves to do yoga, so I have been doing that with him. Caden and Anni also joined us this day:

I have been trying to master the art of sour dough bread, and I tell you what, this practice is not for anyone that has any sort of a life. Good thing I don’t have one right now! First it takes a week to get the sour dough going, which isn’t too hard, but you have to remember to “feed” it everyday. The actual baking process takes forever. Once it’s mixed, it takes up to 18 hours before it’s ready to bake and then you ah e to change the temperature around and do something all while it bakes and it bakes for an hour. But I love sourdough bread and it seems like a good thing to know how to do so I keep persevering😂

First hideous loaf:

May attempts later and it’s getting pretty good:

Writing this reminded me that I had two loaves rising but I had waited for the use of the Dutch oven which Caden was using for making doughnuts and apple fritters. Now it’s almost 10:00....I hope they live well in the fridge for the night😬

Home church!

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1peROB40oDwhPLcq_iNhDChPXrmmWV21d
We had the best home church! Sometimes we make the best plans and then nothing goes the way we had hoped but today was a great experience! This was our program:

Church started and Anni jumped up to lead music:

We got the giggles a little bit during sacrament meeting because Caden got ready to bless the water and Shawn had put a huge mug for everyone with a swallow of water in each one😄

After sacrament meeting we moved on to “Come Follow Me” and Sunday School for all ages. This included singing time led by Isabelle:
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=1UAZkEswPTuS22KVhnyX7uguK_ANBqb2l
She had a “Singing time tic tax toe” and the first one that Anni picked said “stroke your neighbor’s face as you sing the song”:

She had lots of other fun activities for the kids to do along with the songs and we all really enjoyed it!

After church we got started on dinner and at 2:00 Jim, Marilyn and Eli came to eat with us. Then we had lemon meringue and coconut cream pie’s for a late pi day and Caden made homemade ice cream. It was such a great day with all the people I love!
