Education

The world has been put on hold for Covid-19- or Coronavirus as we often refer to it. The kids are out of  school with a minimal amount of schoolwork to do. When this all started, Shawn sat them all down and told them that he wanted everyone to think of some goals to work towards and thereby accomplish something during this crazy time.

We decided to get chicks , so Shawn and Nolan built a chicken coop. Shawn originally brought all three little boys over to his parents shop to help on it one Saturday, but brought back Abram and Pace for lunch because it was too hard to think of things for all three of them to do. Nolan is at an age where he’s a great help and Shawn said he drilled all the screws and build a lot of the project. We were excited to get it done and home before the chicks arrived!:

Kami and Caden have been transposing a song for piano and violin that they love the sound of but can’t find sheet music for. I don’t have a picture of that, but they and Maddie often sing and play instruments together.

Maddie has taught herself to knit! This was her first trial of it and she is now onto a blanket.

I have been exercising at least four days a week- even though I don’t enjoy working out at home. Pace loves to do yoga, so I have been doing that with him. Caden and Anni also joined us this day:

I have been trying to master the art of sour dough bread, and I tell you what, this practice is not for anyone that has any sort of a life. Good thing I don’t have one right now! First it takes a week to get the sour dough going, which isn’t too hard, but you have to remember to “feed” it everyday. The actual baking process takes forever. Once it’s mixed, it takes up to 18 hours before it’s ready to bake and then you ah e to change the temperature around and do something all while it bakes and it bakes for an hour. But I love sourdough bread and it seems like a good thing to know how to do so I keep persevering😂

First hideous loaf:

May attempts later and it’s getting pretty good:

Writing this reminded me that I had two loaves rising but I had waited for the use of the Dutch oven which Caden was using for making doughnuts and apple fritters. Now it’s almost 10:00....I hope they live well in the fridge for the night😬
