Oregon Coast

We decided to post our house as an Air B and B during Round-up.  It went fast for $500 per night, so we took off for a vacation to the coast.  This was Anni's first time at the ocean and it was fun to see her experience that and also for all of us to get to relax!

We had our usual stops on the way there to break up the driving, stopping at Cascade Locks and then Multnomah Falls:

Shawn helping a man rescue a bird because there was a man fretting over a bird that was stuck on the beach.  They tried several times to get it out in the water and then the man called someone and they said these birds get tired sometimes and need to rest so we left it alone after that.

These kids got to go out on a small ship to watch whales!  I stayed on shore with Anni and Pace because I get really seasick.  It was a great day for whale watching though, and they were spouting clear up in the bay so we got to see them too.  And the ship everyone was on was right on top of several of them and saw multiple whales spout at the same time:
There they go:

Watching Salt Water taffy be made:

After staying at Lincoln City for a couple of days, we went to Seaside.  I think Seaside is a new favorite!

Daytrip to Tillamook Cheese factory:

We took the kids to a fancy seafood restaurant one evening and while waiting for a table, Pace tripped over a magazine rack and got a really fat lip. So that was memorable:

One morning the girls were getting ready so the rest of us went on a walk while we waited for them. I had to take a picture of us after I got a couple of comments congratulating me on "finally getting our girl" haha.

Wreckage from an old ship:

Exploring Fort Stevens:

Day trip to Astoria Oregon was next - we visited the Astoria Tower and the kids flew airplanes (which you could purchase there) off of the top and ran up and down over and over to do it again.  There was a great view at the top but some of us (Kami and I) were shaking we were so scared of heights.  It was a lot of spiral staircase to get to the top of this 150 foot tower!

Lots of neat historical artwork on the tower.

Kami and I holding on for dear life at the top.  When we got down, I got a video of Kami's legs shaking:

The boys were busy flying their airplanes:D
Then it was back to the ocean that evening where Maddie experimented with body surfing and soon Isabelle, Shawn, Nolan, and Abram joined her.

Heading back to the hotel after a full day:

This was such a fun trip - first one with Kami home. I was so grateful that everyone was able to make it since we had to schedule around Kami's work and Maddie's school.  We missed Caden and I can't wait for a vacation with all of us together.
