Family reunion time in August

Katie was in charge of the Kerns Family Reunion this year, and she chose to hold it at Willow Creek, camping out in tents.  She had everyone who was interested and had a skill that they could teach, sign up to teach a class.  We had boffer sword making,(Nathan) a poetry class,(Danny) pine needle baskets,(Ivy) knife throwing,(Nathan) footless sandles,(Katie) bull whip making(Aaron), Knife sharpening(Danny), how to make bolas (Nathan) and slings(Nathan)

there were lots of boffer sword battles"

A happy camper - Nolan has really gotten interested in all things camping this year:

The boys were in heaven with all the great classes and getting to camp out.  Nolan recently purchased a hammock and hung it in his own little secluded campsite.  All of the kids had a good time with cousins, Aunts and Uncles.  My family is so talented!

Everyone was in charge of a meal - this was the morning we did breakfast:

Danny taught a great class about poetry and then challenged everyone to write a poem.  The best general poem would win a prize, and the best poem about our old barn that we burned down this year would win $50.  Katie ended up writing a great poem that brought back all the nostalgia of the time we had in our old barn.

I taught Sarah how to french braid and then she practiced on my hair with mom's guidance:

I liked how Katie and Tabitha's hair matches perfectly.  They have a very close Aunt/neice relationship:

Most people only stayed for one night because a big storm came in the second evening, but everyone showed up for breakfast the next day and to say our goodbyes.
