stormy weather

When Kami got home from work a couple of days ago she told us about a terrifying storm she had driven through on the way home. She said that it had poured rain to the point that there was zero visibility, and then she had been pelted by huge hailstones.

After about 1/2 an hour, the same storm hit our house and boy was it exciting!  I don't know how the midwest handles all the excitement because around here we have NEVER seen anything like these hailstones:

Caden couldn't resist running clear down to the edge of the pond to take videos of the water that was splashing two feet into the air with every hit.  The younger kids were venturing out to find bigger and better hailstones and howling with pain as the did it.  Crazy kids! They had all been playing out in the tree farm when the storm hit, and some were crying from the pain of the hail stones.

This picture doesn't even do it justice:

Evan and Jodi were here visiting and were just on the verge of leaving when the storm hit, and had to wait for some time before they were able to go!  After the hailstones came a deluge of rain. When Evan and Jodi finally left, they were texting me pictures of a flooded town that they were driving through.  This area of the world is considered a desert because of the small amount of annual rain that we receive, so this was incredible.

There was quite a bit of damage done in town - in some places they had water that had flooded to six feet deep! I couldn't believe all the videos and pictures that I saw - couldn't believe that all of that damage could happen so fast!
