Maddie debated all summer about whether or not to run cross country or play soccer, but in the end she loved soccer too much to quit! We told her that it would likely be as discouraging and drama-filled as last year but told her she would have our full support. One week before school started her Shawn picked her up from practice and she was FUMING mad. Her coaches had run a drill that they did last year that we all think is super inappropriate. They call it "bottoms up" and have the girls bend over and then they kick the ball at their rear ends. If they hit them, the girl that was hit has to stay there. It's very demeaning and (we feel like) it's harassment. Maddie told the coaches that she was leaving and they demanded her to get back into line and do the drill. Maddie did it because the rest of the team was threatened with having to run if she didn't.
Needless to say, Shawn called the athletic director, who was absolutely appalled, and he promised that it would NEVER happen again! So far everything else has been just fine. This was a picture Eli sent me after he and Emmie, Gracie and Isaac went and cheered for Maddie when they played Baker (and won!)
The Andersons came for a couple of nights and I got to watch Hazel and Eli for a day. They went to the gym with me and we also played at several parks. I really enjoyed it! This was when we were waiting in the LONG car line to pick up Pace from Kindergarten:

Shawn and I drove all the way to the Tri-cities to attend the temple only to find, upon arriving, that it was closed for several weeks...Just then, one of our friends called and said that she had tickets to the Old Dominican concert and wondered if we wanted them? We decided to go even though we know nothing about the band. It was fun to go on a date together, but lets just say that the atmosphere at the temple is a lot more up-lifting!🤣
